Five More Minutes

As a Wife, Mom, Daughter, Sister, Granddaughter, Great-granddaughter, business owner, and friend (Whew that’s a long list that could be LONGER) I wear many hats.

Can you relate?

Often times, I feel busy… overwhelmed… I feel like I have 15 plates spinning in the air full of spaghetti and only one free hand. I know that some of those plates are going to fall… but which ones do I save?

How can I take care of my family… cook all sorts of wonderful (gluten free and organic) meals, have laundry folded hung and put away, visit family, work two jobs, take care of a little one and still have time to take care of me? Oh… and I have to clean?!?

I’ve realized I can’t do it all. I’m not superwoman… I’m Rachel.

Have we met yet?

Most likely you will find my house a mess. Kid’s toys strewn about the living room floor. Chicken and veggies in my Instant pot because I don’t have time to try a new recipe (seriously… that thing is amazing). And there will be Laundry sitting in a basket waiting for the kid to go to sleep so I can put it away (and he won’t take it back out).

I won’t be dressed in designer clothes… I’ll probably be in yoga pants (with holes!) that are bleach stained (From back in the day when I cleaned with bleach.) My hair will be tossed in a clip and there will be ZERO make-up on my face.

But… in the moments that count… I have Five extra minutes.

I used to be a clean freak. I would scrub and shine until my house was immaculate. Toddlers change things. Now, I just want Five more minutes with him. Five more minutes at the park. Five more minutes at bath time. Five more minutes reading bed time stories. Five more minutes of cuddling.

Thankfully, I’ve been able to find those five minutes… and keep my house (somewhat) clean. Yesterday, I cleaned my oven in 5 minutes (Thank you NORWEX). Today I cleaned my bathroom while my little bear cub was bathing. Cleaning is so much faster with Norwex… and it is here, I’ve found Five more minutes.

I know some days are better than others… I know some days we just feel overwhelmed and we can’t do it all… Some days plates of spaghetti fall (great thing we have the Norwex mop for that) and the important thing I remind myself is that, my sweet son will know that his mom and dad love him like crazy, we do our best. We work hard and play hard. And as often as possible we say yes to Five more minutes.

How do you prioritize your time and find your Five more minutes?
